IN presenting to the Public a Second Edition of ancient faiths embodied IN ancient names, in a condition nearly identical with the First, the Author begs to state, that it had been his intention to revise, and in some places to re-write, those parts wherein his advanced knowledge led him to believe that the Opinions propounded required modification. But he has been pre vented from carrying out his plan by a tedious illness, and the necessity to take a long Continental tour to recover health. During the time when he was invalided, the demand for the First Edition increased so greatly as to exhaust the whole impresssion. Being physically incapacitated from undertaking the labour of re-writing, and being wholly debarred from the power of using any library, the Author resolved upon a simple re-issue, those parts only being altered where clerical errors had crept in.
